onedotsixtwo returns to the progressive hotbed of Argentina and welcomes Nico Szabo for his first full EP release on the label, following his amazing remix of Penny by fellow Argentines Oliver & Tom in August (ODST0032), with three glorious original works titled Flos, Chronic and Junira.
Nico Szabo is a prodigious young talent emanating from Buenos Aires whose ever-growing array of tracks and remixes, on the likes of The Soundgarden, TRYBESof, Clinique, 3rd Avenue and Balkan Connection, have been turning heads already throughout 2020. A talented musician, having studied guitar and electric bass from the age of 12, Nico’s studio skills are now focused on producing the finest proper progressive house music.
Flos, the title track, is a melodic gem with an infectious shuffling rhythm, soaring keys and Nico’s trademark live bass all blending together seamlessly to create a melancholic, yet warm, masterpiece. Chronic is a deeper affair altogether which builds in tension from the off, is peppered with crisp shakers and claps and a bubbling and growling lead synth which builds throughout the track and is complimented by soaring keys reminiscent of a space odyssey. Last but certainly not least Junira brings the EP to a close with it’s hauntingly beautiful echoed vocals and teasing melodies before the warmest and most encapsulating bassline is unleashed, creating a euphoric blend further driven forward by a syncopated flute hook and a delicate but powerful chiming topline which sends shivers down your spine and induces the biggest of smiles.
onedotsixtwo is very proud to be home to this stunning collection of tracks which are undoubtedly some Nico’s finest works to date.
